A ok not menu button on remote control...Yeah I found this main menu option and if your hit blue button while hovering over EPG it brings up this.  This is the way I would like the EPG to hold but does not if you hit left you go back to regular epg

Ok I get what you mean

And I see the confusion

On all of our Buzz Apps since 2015
Buzz 2,4,5,6(on P6 and Classic AI)

We designed the entire apps around our remotes to function with shortcut buttons for guide, live, vod, server, menu button
So the navigation is different when you're used to Google TV Apps.  If you own any of our other non google tv models, you will see what I mean.

Google TV changed the entire way that TV app guidelines should work for navigation, and the remotes do not have a menu button
Its focused on L to R and R to L navigation + the back button
So we were able to get approved to be in the Playstore with our current implementation
We will improve on this though in future updates

We do plan to make one of the Color buttons open that grid guide on a new update very soon

I have since found out how to change categories in this view by holding ok button it brings up a sub menu with categories.  Would be better if there was an option in epg to change view and lock it like that and just hit back arrow to go back to categories etc.

The themes are very basic would be nice if it was bit more modern..

Can I also make a suggestion not sure if it would be possible but would be very helpful.  With the app I have shown below I can login to the app from my phone via website panel and select a playlist and hide categories I don't want to see etc and same with VOD.

This is very nice esp with some playlists being so big and far less time consuming than doing via a remote.

As I have many it can select my playlist and I just click the categories or bits I don't want and click apply.

This is handy some providers don't offer this You can also change stream to HLS etc which makes it so easy to manage

Left on this particular app brings up categories and left again brings up menu for VOD etc.  I personally would prefer this was all just back button to go back the levels..

Also is there away to close the app when you are not using it. When I click home I come away from it but certain it's still running in background and possibly affecting other apps.. Can I suggest an easy way of doing this like double tap back button and an option appears to close app..

Sorry if I am making so many suggestions but would like to see this being the best app. Some feature described that are available on other models like copying epg to playlists that don't have any for a particular channel sound awesome and merging playlists..

We have a few people who work for us in the UK

and we have found out that Google has different settings menus for Google TV Devices based on region

As boxes being used in North America, for sure have the Passthrough settings

We currently have no control over this

And can you please give feedback on Buzz 6 app? So we can look into it

Thanks

Will this be addressed with Google or SEI as other Google boxes in the UK have this option.

At present if I am understanding correctly then although the box has Atmos and Dolby vision etc it is not really what customers are getting on this platform unless using apps that bypass android or Google audio decoding like Kodi?

To the best of my understanding and I am not any expert SEI make the initial fw and then box producers edit the fw in line with Googles strict guidelines and push the updates.

Official apps such as prime and netflix Hulu etc should have no issues playing in the HD audio formats as has all the appropriate licenses

We had to disable PVR on the Playstore version when we submitted it, as we need to look into Googles guidelines for Permission settings on apps that require the permission for Files and Media etc. They're very strict when it comes to this.

Fair enough sure it won't be a problem as other Google TV apps I have use it and are on playstore .

it's right above the red button

That button on my buzz TV app brings up channel list. It doesn't take me to menu my thinking that was EPG / guide button. A commentor posted earlier there is no menu button on this remote.  It's all left and right navigation.

Yes this is what we plan to do, this type of Wire Frame/Layout/Nav for Google TV
But doing this will take time to complete, its months of work.

Google Makes the Firmware and does the updates
SEI just makes the box

We have no direct control over what Google does and doesn't do based on the country the box is being used in.

When I mentioned the Menu button, I was referring to our other remotes/boxes such as

BT-250,350,400,500
IR200

Google TV does not use a Menu button as their App Guidelines do not require it, and that remote control is the G20 which is owned and designed by Google
When selling Google TV as a manufacturer, you have 2 choices of Remote G10 and G20
G10 is similar just has no channel #s or color buttons and about half the size

Yeah am absolutely sure it will.  But very early days the remote is nice and box is snappy.. The upscaling is nice well.  Once the app is all good am sure it will be class.

I like the remote has a fire TV cube 3rd gen and it's miles better.

A quick check online brings this up in AI which seems to explain the situation better if correct

It fails to mention that Google Approves all updates and fully controls the ecosystem and basically everything about Google TV goes through them. SEI cannot do anything basically without Googles Approval

We have to get all Marketing approved by them for example

The way I read it it does say Google controls everything as controls the security side so everything needs approved before being released  It's just meeting those standards that will likely be difficult. I imagine passthrough is a system driver related issue so be SEI responsibility. Not a retailer, retailers likely can only make minor adjustments software side like gui etc

A bit more reading on full passthrough suggests it's actually Google that have removed the passthrough option on Google TV 14. And that seems to be regardless of system. Apparently pay tv providers like netflix / prime do not prioritise this.  Probably as most folk don't have highend audio equipment..Seems pretty reverse logic but is what it is..Not likely to change unless Google have a change of heart.

To be fair I expected this and used Kodi for best audio.

Liked it when we got it in recent update.  But noticed one small side effect as I use it.  If you press the OK button to get channel list and you are just scrolling through a bunch of channels to see what is playing on other channels, then you decide to just go back to full screen of the current channel playing, the back button, no longer does that 🙂

Small work-around is to press right to get single EPG, and then when you press back it goes to full screen of current channel.  But it is a workaround.

Is it potentially possible to map it to LONG-press of back button with prompt to exit, like it is on BuzzTV 5 ?

I'm saying that, but I have no clue on what restrictions Google imposes on buzz for standardization in their ecosystem.

Hi, I took delivery of my G series box today. Just need a bit of advice about using the"buzztv 6 app" , including the remote. Is there a way to access the epg guide for a group , whilst watching a channel , without having to press down. press main menu, scroll down to "epg" and then select it. There isn't a dedicated button on the remote to access tv guide ? Also the 4 coloured buttons on the remote , red gives a channel lock option , green subtitles option , yellow and blue dont appear to do anything . Can one of these be programmed to open tv guide ?
