OK, everything seems to work now.

Buzz support made newer firmware available for the box - it is now 20220919

After initial portal setup, TV Series came up working just fine.

Thank you for support - greatly appreciated !

With BuzzTV 5 software now (instead of BuzzTV 4) I assume ?

Correct.

IPTV ver. 5.0.766

20220919 still kind of seems "dated" - I asked support if I can go any further or this is it.

After it finishes updating, you should be at 5.0.946 I believe, which was released to public about 2 weeks ago.

As I had mentioned in my previous post, it will take a few updates before it is complete 🙂

Android 9 must be running V937 to receive this update

Thats why I said it would take a few updates before it is complete.  It will update to 937 first... And only then will it update to the latest one 🙂

I realize that but they don't

Updates don't do anything anymore, but I started the BuzzTV app, at this point it updated me to 937, restart , another start of BuzzTV app and now I am at 946 !

Thx again.

no one said to update from settings/updates on home screen

you were told menu/settings/check updates which can be done from live tv or home screen

And now you old box has new life.  Running the same software version as the guys who have a Classic and an X5 🙂

Now that is value for your money after all these years.

Firmware updates and app updates are separate

We no longer do Firmware updates for your model, but we still do Buzz 5 App updates
And V946 is the latest version that just came out this month

So I was having pretty much the same problem as VOD TV shows said stream unavailable but movies would work. I followed all the steps to upgrade to BuzzTV 5 but it won't go too v946...its still on v937. And now all the VOD says media format not supported.

I'm on XRS4500

If you upgraded from 766 to 937

It takes about 20-30 minutes before the update will appear for 946

And you can try changing the player in configuration menu for the error message

Menu
Settings
Configuration
VOD + TV Series Video Player

Change it from Primary to Backup

Ok the updated hasn't come yet so I'll wait for that. The media player was on backup so I switched to primary and there was no change. I tried external and I had the choice of VLC or Media Player. I tried Media Player but it stuck on loading video. VLC said something about the location. It was a fast error message. Is there another player I can use?

From LiveTV, try hitting the MENU button on remote, Settings->Check Updates.

For external player, I have seen that VLC error before.  And not only on buzz boxes.  Very bizarre.  IT can't seem to find the path.

I have a few players installed including MX Player and HB Player.

Also, quick question, are you SURE it is not your provider with VOD section being down right now ?  I know one of the old classic popular server (starting with an "O") has all their VOD down at the moment.  So no matter what you do, it won't make a difference till they fix it on server end.

It is very possible that the server starting with an "O" is the problem as that's what I'm connected to. I guess it's a waiting game for me for them to fix it on their end.

Thanks for the info.

If external player doesn't work either

Then the issue is with the server itself

I have seen cases where VLC actually spits out an error for something about location when used as external player.  Not specific to buzz.  "Sometimes" an uninstall and reinstall fixes the issue, sometimes it is pretty stubborn.  I have since switched to using HBplayer, because it is simple, lightweight and just works.  MX Player also works well.

Yes the service that starts with an o is having issues with their vod

  • 1 month later...

I have the same issue with the TV series not working

I Just bought a U5 32 Box, Live TV works, VOD works but TV series does not.

If I use m3u server format TV series does not show up on the home page.  I have searched on VOD if they were there and nothing.

If I load using Xtreme it TV series icon is on the home screen, it loads the series I can see the series, but will not play, when I click play,  the screen goes black for 2 seconds and then back to the same screen and displays a the following message  Unknown stream error

I can play the TV series on any IPTV app downloaded on the BuzzTV U5 box, but not using the BuzzTV 5 app?

I have  done all the updates and its running the following

IPTV Version 5.0.926

firmware V20240927
