Cannot Update IPTV Smarters Pro on X5 128AI

Featured Replies

I have had IPTV Smarters Pro installed for several years.  A few months ago, my playlist and epg updates started consistently failing.  The installed version is 3.1.5.1.  I contacted the developer who has sent several links and codes that all redirect to the same apk.  He says the current version is 5.  Each install has reesulted in an App not installed error message.  According to Troypoint, the current version is 3.1.5.1.  The developer has said it's operator error so I sent screenshots of every step and asked him to identify the mistake I made.  I have asked the developer questions to help identify whether there is a signature mismatch causing Android to refuse to overwrite it.  Developer only sidestepped the questions.  He has been most unhelpful.  His latest response was The problem is in your device, not in our app.  Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone offer any insight?  Thank you!

Have you uninstalled 3.1.5.1 first before installing 5 ?  Maybe they changed the apk signature, which will basically not allow you to update or install the new version if it clashes.

I can tell you for a fact that 5 is the current version and I install it on many boxes as a "backup" for some people.

But just curious, is there any reason you are not using the integrated BuzzTV 5 software on an X5 ?

I was saving uninstall as a last resort.  I was trying to avoid the headache of having to set it up from scratch.  I've already had to do that MULTIPLE times during the year because my iptv service has changed my login many times.

I asked the developer specifially about the signature.  He did not answer, just sent me a new link or code.

I haven't gotten in the habit of using the integrated software and have not yet completed the setup.  I was told by BuzzTV when I got the X5 that that would be available in the future.  I only recently learned that it had been a live application the entire time so I don't always think of it as an option for watching live tv.  TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro and a couple of others are already set up with my favorites.  While it seems like a simple task, I'm burned out on having to go through all that again and I've been overwhelmed with what life's been throwing at me.

Sorry dude, but that is BS.  BUZZ themselves, would never have told you that.  Maybe some 3rd party seller did because they did not want to support it on their service, but NOT BUZZ.  EVERY BUZZ box that has ever been released to the public has had a version of BuzzTV Pre-installed.  From Buzz TV 2, 4, 5 and now BuzzTV 6.

The ONLY exception was the latest BuzzTV G-Series where it was not preinstalled (due to google requirements) but you had to download it from the google play store.

You will probably NOT have a choice but to uninstall and reinstall Smarters if you plan to continue using Smarters.

But instead of doing that, why not just finally setup the BuzzTV LiveTV application (which includes VOD/TV Series) also.  And once you set it up, there is an option in the menu, which allows you to backup you server settings, favorites, etc.. to a USB stick.  And should you ever need to reinstall, reset the box, or buy a new buzz box, you can restore your servers, favorites and other stuff without going through the whole hassle again.

They absolutely did when they walked me though some issues with setup and I'm not a dude.

Great Dudette.

No chance.  You must have misunderstood, because there is NO buzz box that came WITHOUT a version of BuzzTV already preinstalled and functional.

I got all 3 of my X5 boxes (X5 128AI, X5 64XC, and X5 SS) before they were released to general public and all 3 had BuzzTV preinstalled and fully functional.  So there is NO way yours came without it.

I did not misunderstand.  Respectfully, you were not on the call.  Maybe it did come with it.  That was not what I said.  What I said was that I was told that it was not yet functional.  Because that's what I was told, I never even opened it.  You can argue all you want.  You cannot change the facts.

And I cannot set up favorites because that can only be done using the BT-400 remote, which I had to abandon for the onn remote because the BT-400 remote was defective.  I did troubleshooting with BuzzTV support for weeks.

You did misunderstand Buzz 5 has always been functional

Where the misunderstanding might have come from is there was talk of buzz 6 becoming available after it was released but buzz 5 has always worked

We'll agree to disagree on that one.

By the time any X5 was released, BuzzTV 5 was quite mature.  BuzzTV 5 was first rolled out via OTA in late 2021 to the xrs4900 (Android 9 device).  And then rolled out to others.  The first X5 units only went on sale to public in May or June of 2022.  Even till this date, BuzzTV 5 still get's minor bug fixes or small feature updates.  Most new features however are being added to BuzzTV 6.

Now for the fact that you can't add favorites without a buzz remote (don't specifically need the BT400 - Any buzztv remote will do), that is true, since you do need the colored buttons.  For the BT400 being defective, was it defective out of the box ?  Did you try getting a replacement under guarantee, since they do come with 1yr ? Did you try a fresh set of batteries and tried to do a RESET on the remote (since after a failed TV programming, you may need to reset the remote to get all the buttons to work as expected).  This resets the remote only, not the box.

On BuzzTV 6 (which is not available on the X5), they have added a new feature which allows you to use the app without depending on the colored buttons.  When you long press the OK button, it gives you a popup with some options, like start recording, add to favorites, aspect ratio, and a few others.  So that even if you don't have a buzz remote to quickly press yellow button to add to favorites, or red to start recording, you can always long press the OK button and do what you need.  This would be nice on BuzzTV 5, but at this stage of development, I don't think they are adding too many new features on BuzzTV 5 (but they may surprise us - since it is mostly just shortcuts).

There were issues with the remote out of the box.  Initially they were minor and did not become real problems until later.  The remote either requires multiple presses to get a response or was super sensitive.  When typing in search topics, it frequently entered multiples of the same letter/number.  Then when I would go back and delete the duplicate, it removed both letters/numbers.  It just took me over 15 minutes to enter a single m3u url because of this.  Sometimes it would go up or down a menu at lightning speed but the button itself was not in a stuck position.  After opening a menu box on an app, I found that the only way to accomplish what I was trying to do was to press the very, very bottom of the OK button.  Pressing it in the center either got no response or a response I was not trying to get.  The battery level was 99%.  The remote was never dropped, sat on or had anything spilled on it.  It was intact and in pristine condition.  I did several factory resets, along with everything else recommended by support.  The experience was so bad I didn't want another BuzzTV remote, even if it was in the budget, which it was not.

You're the only one saying I talked to the dev.  If you're going to be wrong, be wrong at the top of your voice.  You're making yourself look silly.  You were not there and your opinion does not change the facts.

I had buzztv 5 working on my 4500 before the 4900(first box to sell with buzztv 5) was for sale so the dev would not tell you it wasn't working when the x5 was released

you're a liar

I am thrilled for you.  I never said it wasn't working.  When we were trying to resolve some setup issues, I specifically asked about live tv.  He said it would be available in the future.  You have no right to call me a liar when you don't have the facts to stand on.  You're making an a$$ of yourself.  You cannot change what happened.  You are not that powerful.  You were not on the call.  The fact that you continue to misquote me, to misrepresent what I said, to berate me and to make false accusations only shows your true character.  You have some serious issues.

AGAIN, I NEVER said I was on the phone with a dev.  I WAS on the phone with BuzzTV support.  You have a serious problem with facts and with confusing rude with powerful.  Maybe you'd feel better about yourself if you'd act like an adult instead of these pathetically weak attempts at bullying.
