chillenandy321 Posted May 16 Posted May 16 When the G-Series is in sleep / standby the Ethernet disconnects from my Network. Any settings I need to change to keep it always connected? Thanks  Quote
chillenandy321 Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 Also WiFi disconnects when in standby / sleep Quote
Emporium Posted May 16 Posted May 16 And WHY would it need a network connection in sleep/standby ?   When it comes out of standby, it will re-establish whatever connection it had. Quote

This is my first streamer box to do it this way. It should stay connected. Things need to process. Is there a way to keep it connected all the time? “Stay awake” in developer options? Thanks Quote

Thanks try to split SSID and switch between and see if that helps. if not then change SSID channel and see if that helps. also try to swap to a different type of gateway if your ISP gives you a choice and see if that helps. Not sure how to do this with Metronet isp on eero gateway.  I’ll try the “stay awake” feature in developer options  first Quote

Emporium Posted May 17 Posted May 17 I just got home and checked my G Series box. When it is in standby/suspend, my network seems to remain connected. At least the Link light on my switch stays on, so the physical ethernet port on the box is still active.  3 Quote

It will also show offline on WiFi when I turn the box off. Edited May 17 by chillenandy321 Quote

Do things need to process in the background? I use Sparkle and Tivimate to record shows and movies when the tv is off sometimes. Quote
Emporium Posted May 17 Posted May 17 All I can tell you is that my box is connected to my Netgear Prosafe switch, and the Link LED stays on regardless if the box is on or in standby. If I pull the cable, from the box, it obviously turns the LED off. Have you "tried" to use Sparkle/Tivimate to record and has it failed when box is in standby ? I have not tried on my G-Series to record but on most of my older buzz boxes, I typically do a "shutdown" on the box, and not "standby" (I have always hate standby). If I had something scheduled for record, the box would power itself on a minute or 2 before the scheduled record, it would then record as scheduled, and then shutdown again once it was done. So I never really cared or checked if the link LED was ever on since it would re-establish any network connection as soon as it powered on in prep for the recording.   1 Quote

I did a few tests this morning and it came down to is a scheduled recording for later time when the box is standby (off) will not wake up to record. It stays offline. The onn boxes for example always stay online and scheduled recordings work perfect.  The buzz box will record if powered on and will stay recording when powered off if the movie is still playing. Quote
nbs. Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Maybe talk to the app guys as gbox was not designed to record. Quote
