AirPods Won’t Pair

Featured Replies

Trying to pair AirPods with Classic AI (running up to date firmware). Pairing process looks to start but then fails indicating the process is looking for a PIN to be entered.

We tried it here using Airpod Pro 3
No Pin came up

And it worked no problem

We did make sure to disconnect the Airpods from any other devices before we paired it to the box

We put the airpods in pairing mode, then selected them as a device on Bluetooth settings on the Classic AI

Finally had time to revisit this topic and do further testing. I’m using AirPod Pro 2 and they will not pair. Have disconnected them from any other device. On the Classic AI, Bluetooth app I have cleared cache, data, and rebooted the box. When trying to pair, will get the menu asking me whether I want to pair. When picking pair, screen just sits there and then kicks me out with an error indicating they could not pair due to an incorrect PIN or passcode. Have also tried to pair with a pair of Bose headphones with similar result. Both work fine on my Nvidia Shield Pro, Definitely something wrong on Buzz box.

I don't know about Airpods since my home is an apple free zone.  But I had NO issues pairing all sorts of devices.  Not a single one failed, even a generic chinese crappy BT speaker.

Below is a pic of some of them I tried initially, but I continued and tried more after this.

  • Generic Chinese crappy BT-Speaker
  • Anker Soundcore Speaker
  • Poly Voyager Focus 2 (originally by Plantronics) headphones
  • Bose QC 35 headphones
  • Bose QC SE headphones
  • JBL Wonderboom BT Speaker
  • Anker P40i earbuds

All paired at first attempt on each one.  Not a single one hesitated or needed a second attempt.

If all else fails, Maybe you need to do a hardware based factory reset and start from scratch.  Unplug the USB-C power cable. Press and hold side button, and while holding it down, plug the power back in.  Keep holding the button until you see the Android recovery menu.  You can then use the remote (which will be in IR mode) to scroll down and select the "Factory reset" option.  go through and accept the confirmation prompts and then let it go through, reboot and it will reinitialize the box.

He did say he tried with BOSE headphones also and got same result.  I tried 2 different BOSE headphones and had no issues.

I'm assuming however that he has at least unplugged the power waited a few seconds and then re-plugged it to power cycle it.  Using the remote to power it off is obviously not the same (especially if device is configured to suspend instead of shutdown)..
