MAC address

Featured Replies

I have been trying to load a MAC server to my P6.

The MAC address on the bottom of the Box does not appear to be correct.

When I go to settings the MAC address under settings is different from that on the box..

Why are there 2 MAC addresses?

Which one is correct?

Both are correct but the one you need for server is starts with 00:1A:79……

When you go to the SERVER screen, the MAC you use is the one on the top right of the screen (start with 00:1A:79 for historical reasons). And that is what is emulated in the software. And you can CHANGE that if you wish on most version of the Buzz software.

The one under the box is the physical MAC address of the NIC on the box.

The one on the screen starting with 00:1a:79 does not work.

I get a connection error When I use it.

On the panel, did you (or your seller) do a DEVICE RESET, to force the panel to accept new connection ? Don't forget, it is NOT just MAC that is important. Internally many panels also use the DEVICE_ID1 and DEVICE_ID2 fields which are married to receiver the first time you try to connect. So DEVICE RESET on panel forces the panel to accept the next connection as the new DEVICE_ID1 and DEVICE_ID2 new values.

I did a restart. Loaded the server information. Restarted again.

I also disconnected my router for 30 minutes to make sure it was clear and have left the Buzz off for the 30 minutes.

I still get the same message Please contact your provider to register this device.

I will contact the provider to see if they did a device reset.

When you change device, even if you copy/replicate MAC, you need to ask provider for device reset on their end. It is not like the olden days where all that mattered was the MAC.

Server lock into many different factors, like MAC, Device_ID1, Device_ID2, sometimes serial, user agent, sometimes, even ISP. All recorded after the first connection on a newly created account, or first connection after a panel device reset from reseller.
